Private Family Office I

This company selected a half acre site adjacent to the Katy Trail near Highland Park to build a 15,000 SF headquarters office. GFF was charged with creating a design that would serve multiple generations, with humility and good stewardship. The resulting building is three stories with a limestone base which conceals secured ground level parking. A mostly glass box, protected from the sun by a steel brise-soliel, enjoys treetop views across the trail toward Highland Park. The vertical circulation core anchors the glass box to a taller stone clad element. The resulting composition is regionally and climatically appropriate, modern yet timeless.

Combining elegant light-weight contemporary framing with exposed treated wood and a Texas limestone base, the building site is an absolute gem just north of downtown Dallas. Carrying this theming from the building to the outdoors, GFF Landscape was tasked to design quality outdoor space for the building and its inhabitants. The site carries a rich palette of plants hardy to Texas, a meandering decompressed granite pathway, all of which are framed by rustic limestone blocks. In this space, reclaimed for a morsel of nature, the landscape team created opportunities to sit and relax or possibly transfer work activities out into this calming space.
