Fort Worth Office History

GFF’s work history in Tarrant County has deep roots. During the decade of the 1990’s, the firm completed four building projects in Hillwoods’ Alliance, Texas, and participated in strategic master planning charrettes for Alliance Gateway and Circle T. Ranch. In a similar vein, Trademark Property Company invited GFF to provide master planning consultation at Alliance Town Center and for the redevelopment of the Rosedale/Forest Park site. Starting a relationship with that company that continues today, large scale master planning has been a continued focus of our Tarrant County work. GFF has prepared master plans for portions of the signature ranches located south and west of the city proper, including the Edwards Ranch, Veale Ranch, Walsh Ranch, Vinson Ranch, Bailey Ranch, Team Ranch and Pearl Ranch. Although typically, these plans have been well out ahead of actual development, in the case of Bailey Ranch, in Aledo, under the direction of Fred Disney, we have seen significant development progress on half that 650-acre property.

Our relationship with the Edwards family and Cassco Land began in 1988 with the design and development of the 500,000 SF Overton Park Plaza retail center at the northwest corner of Hulen and Interstate 20. As the sellers of the land to our client and as owners of the adjacent tracts, Cassco retained review rights over the architectural design of the project and held us to the highest standards of quality in the buildings and landscape. The family is now active in skillfully implementing major residential and commercial development of excellent quality in Clearfork along the Chisholm Trail Parkway. Trailhead and the 5656 Clearfork Main Street office building are examples of recent GFF work there.

In 2005-2010, the firm was involved in bringing a new generation of walkable mixed use development to the Cultural District with planning and design of the shops, lofts and offices of So7 for Ken Hughes and of the West 7th development for Cypress Equities.

Now, with over 1,600 units of high density urban multi-family residential housing in design or under construction in Fort Worth, a significant portion of the firm’s attention is on this building type. Projects include Alta Left Bank for Wood Partners, Alta Waterside in Trademark’s Waterside development for Wood Partners and Stonelake Capital, Broadstone 5th and Summit for Alliance Residential and the first project on Panther Island for Encore Enterprises.

We are pleased to add current projects for prestigious institutions and public clients such as Cook-Children’s, TCU, All Saints Episcopal School, Trinity Valley School and the City of Fort Worth to our mix of work in the city. We are committed to maintaining and expanding our civic footprint and involvement in shaping a built environment of excellence in Fort Worth.
