1900 Lofts

Creating a catalytic project that reshapes the emerging urban fabric of the Dallas Design District

Project Brief

The site for this 213-unit apartment development was created through the strategic actions of a newly formed tax increment finance district. By abandoning the 1500 block of Turtle Creek Boulevard, a public plaza was created as a gathering space and front door for the Dallas Design District, and the site was made large enough to accommodate this high density four story development. The project’s “edgy modern” design in brick, stucco and metal panels is responsive to the context of 1950’s light industrial warehouses, on their way to reuse for design showrooms, antique shops, designer studios and lofts. This project is considered a catalyst for the desired future of this new urban neighborhood.
