Wipro Texas Technology Center

Creating a communal culture within a global company by fostering a ‘small town’ feel

Project Brief

Wipro, a leading international information technology services company, sought an innovative design for their new 32,000 SF Technology Center that reflected their core values deemed the ‘Spirit of Wipro’. The need to accommodate growth was as high a priority along with developing a communal culture to instill that ‘small town’ feel within a global company. GFF Interiors looked to our own city for inspiration, such as Klyde Warren Park, to infuse the design with regional flavor and energy and to foster a connection to Dallas and to each other for employees who come from all parts of the world. The space consists of open office areas, secure team offices, a variety of meeting room types and support spaces. It was important to create a central communal space, ‘The Grove’, where casual encounters and mobile working are encouraged. ‘The Grove’ is a spot for employees to grab a cup of coffee, to build relationships with coworkers, to rejuvenate or practice their putting game. The secure team offices designed using a modular framework, which includes workstations, connectivity, power, lighting, etc., that logically array to facilitate future change without major cost or time. Every workspace is a sit-to-stand desk and most offices remain unassigned due to team transitions. The work environment is open and collaborative with small huddle rooms and tiered lounges to provide an escape from the bustle for focused work or to relax. To inspire creativity, Wipro commissioned a variety of regional artists to develop multiple works of art that include a string art installation mimicking artificial intelligence, and a hand-painted mural that combines all facets of Wipro’s core business influences. Overall, it was important for Wipro to create an energizing environment that allows a choice of works space, a timeless design with local influences, and generates a sense of vibrancy through the use of materials and artwork to help employees feel connected and inspired.
