WileyX

Wiley X’s new home is built around transparency and teamwork, connecting warehouse and office functions into one cohesive workplace

Project Brief

Wiley X, a veteran-founded and family-owned organization, is renowned for creating the world’s best protective eyewear for military personnel, first responders, and professional athletes. GFF was commissioned to design their new 65,000-square-foot headquarters in Frisco, Texas, reflecting Wiley X’s mission and instilling qualities of “strength,” “protection,” and “trust” into the space. The design emphasizes a bold and confident entry, using authentic materials to create a true sense of arrival. The lobby features a large LED screen for custom content display and an adjacent boardroom where clients can interact with Wiley X gear. Key design elements like flooring material changes and dark textured accents enhance wayfinding throughout the space. A central feature is the “Rally Point,” a fully equipped communal zone for gatherings, presentations, and casual interactions. This area connects the warehouse team, visitors, and office staff, fostering a sense of community. The gabled angular steel structure symbolizes protection, while tiered seating encourages socializing and inclusiveness. Wiley X’s design also integrates the warehouse and office spaces visually and functionally, using large glass roll-up doors to prevent any cultural divide between the teams. The workspace itself promotes creativity and productivity, with open workstations, private meeting rooms, and a wellness room designed to support veterans recovering from PTSD and other high-stress experiences. A highlight of the headquarters is the globally accredited on-site laboratory for full-scale ballistic testing of eyewear. Visible from the break room and open office, the lab encourages employee engagement and pride in their work. The design of Wiley X’s headquarters mirrors the company’s relentless drive and commitment to its mission. The collaboration between GFF and Wiley X resulted in a space that not only reflects the company’s values but also supports the retention of existing talent and fosters a dynamic work environment.
