A standout presence along East Plano Parkway through material and form
Project Brief
A slick, charcoal building stands out in a sea of off-white tilt-wall buildings along East Plano Parkway in Plano, Texas. Building on the client’s vision for a clean, minimal approach, the design sought to effect a sensible identity in its context and was achieved for approximately $110/sf. Utilizing tilt-wall construction, a polished dark paint, modest fenestration, and a reveal pattern that emulates the industrial character of metal panel, this facility for signage design and fabrication makes its presence known while reinforcing a thoughtfulness that is crucial to the client’s brand. The design also evokes the oft-subverted heaviness of concrete construction by carving away the entrance from the tilt-wall panels and expressing the building’s mass.
