Roanoke Main Street Parking Garage & Oak Street District Signage

The Oak Street District project in Roanoke, Texas, represents a thoughtful blend of purposeful infrastructure and unified district identity designed to elevate the local civic experience. Developed for the City of Roanoke and slated for substantial completion in Spring 2027, this initiative serves the public good by balancing modern urban growth with the preservation of the town’s rich, industrial character.
By pairing a comprehensive branding and signage study with critical public utility, the project establishes a cohesive, contextual visual language for the community. Strategic elements like district archways, monument signs, and integrated murals transform the area into a recognizable landmark, instilling local pride and creating a welcoming, memorable gateway for residents and visitors alike. At the core of this civic expansion is the new Main Street Parking Garage, a five-story structure that injects 430 public parking spaces into the district, including twenty stalls future-proofed with EV charging capacity. Beyond its primary utility, the garage prioritizes community well-being through an intentionally pedestrian-friendly design, enhanced safety and security systems, and highly accessible flooring. Located just one block off the primary corridor, the project seamlessly extends the vibrant Oak Street experience outward. Thoughtful sidewalk enhancements create safer, more inviting pedestrian connections that draw visitors naturally toward the heart of the district, ultimately boosting local businesses and fostering a more connected, walkable community.

Beyond function, the structure doubles as a visual landmark, integrating murals and signage that reflect Roanoke’s raw, industrial character. By merging performance with identity, the garage creates a memorable entry point and reinforces a cohesive vision for the district.

Branding the Oak Street District

A cohesive visual identity helps establish the Oak Street District as a recognizable destination within Roanoke. Developed through a comprehensive branding exercise, the district’s logo and identity are carried throughout the streetscape with gateway archways, monument signs, and a prominent rooftop sign atop the parking garage.

Extending the Oak Street Experience

Located one block off Oak Street, the garage is designed to seamlessly extend the Oak Street experience beyond its primary corridor. Thoughtful sidewalk enhancements create a safer, more inviting pedestrian connection, drawing visitors toward the heart of the district.
