First Baptist Church of Lewisville – Campus Master Plan
Preparing a 20-acre church campus for the next decade of growth and connection
Project Brief
GFF collaborated with First Baptist Church Lewisville to develop a comprehensive Master Plan aimed at refreshing, renovating, and expanding their 20-acre campus. The goal was to prepare the church for the next decade, ensuring that the campus remains warm, inviting, and capable of accommodating anticipated growth.
Key priorities in the Master Plan included updating preschool, children, and student facilities to support the educational and spiritual growth of younger members. Enhancements to the sanctuary were also planned to improve worship experiences. The plan proposed consolidating staff offices to increase efficiency, significantly increasing relational space throughout the campus to foster community interaction, and ensuring the facility is welcoming and reflective of the church’s mission. Additionally, security measures were addressed, storage deficiencies were identified and planned for, and new large multi-purpose meeting spaces were included. The creation of covered porticos and drop-off areas, along with accommodating outdoor sports, were also integral parts of the design.
The landscape portion of the renovation spans approximately 50,000 square feet and includes a new courtyard and playground for the proposed preschool building, multiple large gathering spaces adjacent to the existing sanctuary, and two new outdoor gathering areas next to the proposed activity center building. Renovations to the existing prayer garden and integrated landscape planting improvements throughout the campus aim to create a cohesive and vibrant outdoor experience. These enhancements are intended to provide direct access to publicly available outdoor spaces, increasing the church’s presence and engagement within the surrounding single-family neighborhoods.
