Woodcreek Church

Incorporating flexible spaces for worship, play, and community activities

Project Brief

Woodcreek Church in Richardson, Texas, recently partnered with GFF to expand their children’s ministry, Kidcreek. The 28,600-square-foot facility now features a large two-story family commons area, children’s assembly and small group classrooms, an indoor play space, and a multipurpose activity room. Themed zones based on age group, such as The Dock, The Nest, Lil Creek, The Cove, and The Bridge, were developed in collaboration with Kendra McDougal Design Consultants. These zones are highlighted with playful colors and materials to create an engaging and dynamic environment for children.

The family commons area has polished concrete flooring for ease of maintenance, while vibrant carpet and paint accents assist in wayfinding. The multipurpose room, known as the Wildwood Activity Center, serves multiple functions, including as a play space for children’s ministries, a gym/game area for youth and young adults, and overflow seating for worship services on Sundays. This expansion enhances Woodcreek Church’s ability to provide a welcoming and functional space for their growing community.

GFF’s Faith & Community Studio designed a building that not only meets the functional needs of the church but also fosters a vibrant and engaging environment for children and families. This project highlights the studio’s commitment to creating spaces that support both spiritual growth and community engagement.
