In 2012, Premier Designs President Tim Horner decided to honor his parents and company founders, Joan and Andy Horner, by building a museum that would communicate the company’s philosophy and ideals to a new generation of employees. The Las Colinas facility regularly hosts busloads of independent distributors (or jewelers) going through their sales training process, necessitating a large reception area, jewelry display cases, vendor meeting space, and restrooms in addition to the museum.
The Faith & Community Studio of GFF designed a light, airy 2,000 square foot pavilion to contrast with the existing low-slung stucco building. The design incorporates cleft and honed limestone, steel, and a glass curtain wall into the pavilion, garden wall, and existing porte-cochere. A large oak tree was retained to shade the glassy west elevation facing a lush courtyard, enhancing the welcoming atmosphere of the facility.
