Dallas Theological Seminary – Campus Master Plan

Dallas, Texas

Dallas Theological Seminary engaged GFF to update a Master Facility Plan to provide a comprehensive blueprint for the redevelopment of their 20+ acre campus in East Dallas. The updated Master Facility Plan served as a strategic guide for various aspects of campus improvement. Key elements included determining the optimal location and configuration for a new 500-seat chapel and Student Life Center, enhancing student and staff parking, and recommending future uses for the Mitchell Ministry Center. The plan also focused on creating informal gathering spaces to facilitate interactions among different student constituencies, offering relaxation and study spaces for commuting students, and providing tailored coffee and dining services to meet their needs.

Additionally, the plan addressed the future relocation of several departments likely to be displaced, such as Facilities and Plant Operations, Event Services, Custodial Services, and Distribution & Mail Services. It emphasized defining the campus edge and enhancing its visual character through the construction of a new ornamental fence, corner monument signs, and improved landscaping. The enhancement of the streetscape along Apple Street was also a priority, aimed at improving the pedestrian experience along this key cross-campus connecting spine.

This comprehensive approach ensured that Dallas Theological Seminary’s campus would not only meet current needs but also support future growth and enhance the overall student experience. By integrating academic, social, and functional elements, the Master Facility Plan laid the groundwork for a vibrant, cohesive campus environment, aligning with the seminary’s mission to provide a holistic and enriching educational experience.
