Plano, Texas
GFF collaborated with Chase Oaks Church to develop the Local Good Center, designed to address key community needs through four primary initiatives: advocacy, health and nutrition services, education, and job creation. The 13,000-square-foot leased space was remodeled to include classrooms for children and adults, a community room, a health food market, and a training kitchen. The training kitchen is intended for teaching healthy cooking classes focused on preventive care, while the food market allows participants to shop for healthy foods for free, reinforcing the center’s mission of promoting wellness and nutrition.
The Local Good Center, situated in an underserved area of Plano, Texas, is designed to be bright, fun, and flexible, supporting various programs for both adults and children. The space reflects Chase Oaks Church’s vision of creating lasting good within the community by providing access and empowerment for those in need. The center serves as a hub for community transformation, offering programs such as ESL classes, U.S. citizenship exam preparation, and computer literacy courses, alongside wellness initiatives that include a teaching kitchen and a market providing access to fresh food.
This project exemplifies the work of GFF’s Faith & Community Studio, showcasing a commitment to creating spaces that not only meet immediate needs but also foster long-term community growth and well-being.
