Thom Powell is a Director of Sustainability with GFF, Inc

Joining GFF in 2004, Mr. Powell has been in the design profession for more than 20 years. An Associate and Director of Sustainability, Thom brings extensive experience for large and complex, high-profile projects, ranging from institutional to commercial. His ability to coordinate difficult issues and opposing viewpoints creates a conducive atmosphere of teamwork with each project. Throughout his career, Thom has consistently developed strong client relationships due to his collaborative nature.

Thom graduated with his Bachelor of Architecture from California State Polytechnic University Pomona and received his Master of Architecture from Syracuse University. He also completed a year of both graduate and post-graduate study in Florence, Italy. In 2008 he was the AIA Dallas Young Architect of the Year recipient. Thom is on the North Texas Chapter USGBC Board of Directors 2012-2014, serving as Vice Chair for 2013 and Chair for 2014. He will serve as the Texas Society of Architects (TSA) director representing AIA Dallas in 2013-2014. In 2011 and 2012, he was Treasurer for AIA Dallas and was the 2011 Co Chair for the TSA Tours Committee. He is an active member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the TSA, was AIA Dallas Commissioner of Environmental Design from 2009-2010, and chaired AIA Dallas Committee on the Environment 2008-2009 and Committee on Design 2009.
