The Windsor

Abilene, Texas

Once the crown jewel of Abilene, and the first hotel to bear the name of Conrad Hilton, the Windsor Hotel has been rescued from its recent state of decline through extensive renovation and transformation into downtown retirement housing. The upper eight stories of the 10-level hotel were reorganized into a variety of apartment configurations to accommodate approximately 80 residents in an assisted living environment. Historical significance of the property was acknowledged through authentic restoration of the exterior and major public spaces, including the grand ballroom and a double-height lobby that had been lost to earlier remodels.
