The Emerald Bracelet

Dallas, Texas

The Emerald Bracelet is an idea for a 5.2 mile hike/bike trail following the inner highway loop of Downtown Dallas, providing conventioneers and downtown residents with easy access to green space and thousands of drivers with an improved image of downtown. Initiated by Mayor Laura Miller’s appointed Inside the Loop Committee in 2003, The Dallas Foundation funded this study to determine the feasibility and strategy for implementing such an ambitious undertaking. The plan utilizes existing public rights-of-way and infrequently used surface parking areas where possible, while using privately owned land through the use of landscape easements. TBG Partners provided landscape architectural services; Jacobs served as transportation consultants.
