Saddle Creek, a project by GFF for BTB Development, reimagines a historically rich site along the 289 corridor on Preston Road in Prosper, Texas. Initially conceptualized as an office park with light retail in 2008, the development has evolved into a vibrant mixed-use community hub, blending retail, office spaces, and recreational amenities.

The design integrates the area’s natural elements, beginning with the adjacent residential retention ponds that inspired the creation of an “oasis.” Water features, such as ponds and thoughtfully designed water areas, enhance the sense of place, providing a tranquil environment for visitors. The inclusion of hike and bike trails further promotes connectivity and active lifestyles within the community.

Saddle Creek’s architectural language draws from the regional aesthetic, utilizing materials like stone to harmonize with the pastoral, agrarian context of the neighboring single-family homes. The zoning adjustments have facilitated a shift towards a more comprehensive shopping center experience, complete with a grocery store, enhancing the project’s utility and appeal. The development emphasizes creating a balanced environment that serves the community’s needs while respecting the site’s historical roots.
