Roanoke Police Department and Municipal Court

Roanoke, Texas

Nestled on 5.5 acres, this new construction project includes a state-of-the-art facility for the Roanoke Police Department and Municipal court.

The existing building posed many challenges and limitations to the current operation due to the lack of growth potential. A study was done to identify a new site off Fairway and Park Drive. A few of the driving factors making the new location ideal included the ability to have two separate and distinct lobbies for Police and Court, two vehicular paths in/out of the facility, and expansion potential.

The new police headquarters provides space for the entire department in a facility that includes significant safety and security upgrades from their previous facility. A new Emergency Operations Center doubles as a storm shelter for staff in severe weather events. Dispatch is housed within the new facility in a suite that provides ample daylight and wellness amenities close at hand for their use. Indoor and outdoor fitness spaces encourage regular exercise and staff break rooms and outdoor plazas encourage camaraderie and team building to balance the high-pressure nature of law enforcement.

Adjacent to the main facility, a support building will be included to serve as a training space within the department. Classrooms, offices, and a shooting range are a few of the program elements within. The building will be used by the Roanoke police department, as well as neighboring agencies. Designed in collaboration with FGM Architects.
