Pecan Grove Park Pavilion

Dallas, Texas

Nestled in the shelter of a grove of mature pecan trees, the complex geometry of this picnic shelter provides the small structure with a sense of dynamic animation. The design consists of a series of steel structural frames, arranged in a geometric progression across the site, and a series of roof panels which vary in transparency and angle of openness to the sky. Tables and benches are constructed of cast-in-place concrete for durability, and are built-in for thorough integration with the architecture of the pavilion. The cast-in-place seat walls extend the geometry of the pavilion beyond the roof, out into the shade of the grove.
