Dallas, Texas
Located in the heart of Knox Street’s Design District, this former 7,000 SF reprographics office, built in the mid 1950’s, was revitalized into a stunning upscale furniture showroom. Inspired by its mid-century modern skeleton, the smooth lines and cantilevered overhang were complimented by extending the parapet, opening the north façade for ambient light, and providing a refreshed exterior material palette. Ledgestone veneer, white plaster and butt jointed glazing are accented by projected metal canopies and native landscaping that bring contemporary appeal to its mid-century roots. On the interior, structural and mechanical components are exposed and low ceiling heights help create an intimate setting for the customer. Interior finishes maintain neutral tones to serve as a clean backdrop for the furniture within the showroom. The renovation strived to incorporate the persona and essence of the client not only in the architecture, but also into the fabric of the neighborhood.
