Fortune 500 Campus Multipurpose Building

Plano, Texas

This 80,000 SF, two-story Conference Center is an important cultural destination for this regional headquarter’s campus. In concert with a soon-to-be completed water feature, this jewel by the lake marks an important entry for the campus and will accommodate occasional large gatherings that reach into the public realm.

The Conference Center include a large training multi-purpose room capable of serving 1,280 occupants that can also be arranged to create multiple rooms capable of serving 190 occupants. An audio-visual presentation system is installed to allow for multiple room configurations as well as multiple media formats. Supporting this multi-purpose room is an array of smaller training rooms and a full service commercial catering kitchen. This kitchen was designed to support catering operations for the campus at large. Generous pre-function areas are included on both floors. The first floor 22,000 SF fitness center was designed to respond to a corporate cultural which embraces training and fitness.

The material palette draws from the existing campus buildings and utilizes these materials to emphasize the slippage of the primary building masses and to announce passage between these forms.

The outdoor environment for this new facility was designed to create a sustainable design with a strong connection between the architecture and landscape. The client desired flexible gathering spaces around the exterior of the building. The connection to the existing pond creates a seamless integration into the existing campus. Limestone seat walls that blend with the architectures, native grasses and drought tolerant plants were used to create a balance between the built and natural environments.
