Fort Bragg Entertainment District Landscape

Fort Bragg, North Carolina

Located within the existing heart of shopping for Fort Bragg, the Fort Bragg Entertainment Districts stated goal is to create a retail and entertainment environment for active and retired military, and their families. This new District is sited on roughly 16.2 acres and will contain three retail buildings totaling 40,000 SF of retail space, and a 42,000 SF multi-screen cinema. A major focal point of this new development is the outdoor Living Room plaza space. The Living Room is consciously designed to create a harmonious mix of natural and man-made features and will be used for outdoor enjoyment of games, dining, concerts and ultimately, an uplifting alternative from the normal rigors of life on a military base. Through the use of brick walls with cast stone caps and different types of decorative paving, the hardscape design embraces the existing historic architecture that can be found throughout Fort Bragg. The plant palette contains planting that are both native and drought tolerant, and was specifically developed to promote the longleaf pine / wiregrass communities that exist at Fort Bragg. As well, all trees and plantings will be irrigated via a 20,000 gallon rain water harvesting cistern that is located adjacent to the theatre. Lastly, the Fort Bragg Entertainment District is being designed to attain LEED Silver Certification.
