First Baptist Church Plano

Plano, Texas

GFF collaborated with First Baptist Church Plano to design their new campus as part of the “Church on a Hill” campaign. This project aims to relocate the church to a highly visible location off the President George Bush Turnpike in Plano, Texas. The new campus features a central commons area that seamlessly connects all church ministries, replacing the traditional fellowship hall and enhancing accessibility.

The Sanctuary is designed to accommodate both traditional and blended worship styles, seating 500 people with the capability for future expansion to accommodate 750. The preschool wing includes 14 bright and colorful classrooms centered around a large group area, which will also host the church’s Awana Clubs. On the opposite side of the commons, the youth have a dedicated hangout and snack lounge connected to a large group worship room and classrooms, which are shared with the adult ministry.

A large exterior wall of windows in the commons area allows visibility into the church’s many activities, while a prominent cross tower serves as a beacon for the surrounding Plano community. The design emphasizes creating vibrant and functional spaces that reflect the church’s mission and foster community engagement.

This project, managed by GFF’s Faith & Community Studio, highlights the firm’s dedication to designing spaces that support both spiritual and communal growth, ensuring First Baptist Plano continues to be a strong part of the community for years to come.
