First Baptist Church Lewisville – Phase I

Lewisville, Texas

After developing a campus master plan for First Baptist Church of Lewisville, GFF worked with the church to develop a prioritized Phase One design for additions and renovations to the existing campus.  This design included three primary areas of emphasis: new secure and vibrant children’s ministry space, new attractive students’ ministry space, and more inviting entry experiences.  The design includes a 21,000 SF new children’s ministry addition on the northwest side of the campus containing 10 new break-out classrooms and two large group spaces (one dedicated to worship and the other dedicated to indoor play).  The new children’s ministry addition also includes a new inviting entry with a dynamic curved drop-off canopy.  Vibrant colors and glazing welcomes children and parents alike to the campus in this dedicated children’s entrance.  On the southeast side of the campus, the exterior wall of an existing stair tower was removed and replaced with a glazing system to create an inviting entrance to the newly renovated students’ spaces on the second floor.  Along with the stair renovation, a new steel framed canopy wraps the corner of the building further identifying the entrance while also providing shade and weather protection for the office entrance.  8,300 SF of the existing second floor was renovated to provide a large group space that accommodates worship, a comfortable lounge for students to hang out, and offices for student’s ministry staff.
