First Baptist Church Decatur

GFF worked with First Baptist Church Decatur in Decatur, Texas, to design a new 22,770-square-foot Children’s Education building. The aim was to support the church’s Kidz Ministries, which focuses on providing a “safe, loving environment where kids grow to love Jesus.” This ministry offers a variety of learning experiences for children from infancy through 6th grade.

The new facility emphasizes safety and security, featuring a large check-in area with direct access to indoor play spaces. The design includes generously sized passageways that ensure easy access to classrooms while also creating informal gathering spaces suitable for teaching and play. For larger gatherings, a state-of-the-art auditorium has been incorporated to accommodate approximately 245 children for worship. The entire building is infused with vibrant colors to create a stimulating and fun environment that excites children about attending church.
