Dallas Farmers Market Landscape

Dallas, Texas

In its short time, the newly renovated Dallas Farmers Market has transformed an aging, car-centric district into one that is highly-walkable and bubbling with street life.  Core to the Farmers Market area is the mixture of different businesses and uses throughout its calendar, and the connection of these uses is vital. GFF Landscape prioritized the walkability of pedestrians in the design of expansive sidewalks, easy street crossings and healthy buffers of plantings separating car traffic from pedestrian. At the crossroads of the district, covering the intersection of Pearl and Taylor Streets, rests a seal of the Farmers Market designed and detailed in brick. Additionally, the area features string lighting, ample street seating, green screens and water play elements to amplify the corridor’s appeal and activity while giving a unique face to the district.
