GFF has been a strategic partner to the leading housewares and home furnishings retailer Crate&Barrel since 1996, serving as Architect of Record for over 30 Homestores in locations throughout the U.S. Each neo-modernist store is a unique expression of place, sensitive to its context, yet instantly recognizable and unmistakably Crate&Barrel. A highlight in the firm’s body of work was to work on the adaptive reuse of Stanford White’s landmark Cable Building on Houston Street in New York City, to serve as a flagship store for the company.
GFF utilizes a variety of tools in an effort to constantly improve the delivery of our services to Crate&Barrel, including Building Information Modeling (BIM), Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), web-based project management applications, and paperless document management and handling. These efforts have resulted in tangible benefits to Crate&Barrel, including reduced project hard and soft costs, better document control and management, improved communication, greater coordination, shorter schedules (documentation and construction), reduced RFIs, fewer change orders and more reliable project archives.
