Flower Mound, Texas
GFF collaborated with Coram Deo Academy to develop a prototype building adaptable for their various campuses, including the main Flower Mound location and a new Collin County campus. Coram Deo Academy, a non-denominational Christian day school, serves families across three campuses in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, providing a classical Christian education aimed at developing ethical servant-leaders and wise thinkers.
The prototype design includes a large multipurpose room/gymnasium at the center, surrounded by classrooms and support spaces, ensuring efficient space utilization for various educational activities. After successfully implementing the new school building at the Collin County campus, attention shifted back to the Flower Mound campus. Here, a new 23,530-square-foot building was added, featuring a multipurpose gymnasium, seven classrooms, and other essential support spaces, enhancing the existing facilities for grades Pre-K-12.
One significant challenge in the design was incorporating a storm shelter compliant with the ICC 500-2014 standards. This shelter was integrated around a long corridor and four classrooms, providing safety for up to 497 occupants from tornadoes. This addition underscores GFF’s commitment to safety and resilience in educational environments.
Coram Deo Academy’s mission is to shape culture for the glory of God by providing a rigorous classical curriculum. The school’s expansion and improvements reflect their dedication to offering a holistic education that includes academic excellence, character development, and spiritual growth, all within a safe and supportive environment.
