CBD Comprehensive Transportation Study

Dallas, Texas

The expansion of DART’s light rail system and the current 30-year-old thoroughfare plan have highlighted the need for a coordinated and comprehensive transportation study in Downtown Dallas. Jacobs Engineering serves as the prime contractor for this project, with GFF responsible for developing the future land use vision that will inform the transportation modeling.

The study’s goals include identifying a second corridor for light rail to move through downtown and developing a strategy for creating a more pedestrian-friendly core area that incorporates traffic-calming measures. This project aims to enhance connectivity, improve urban mobility, and foster sustainable development within the downtown area.

This comprehensive study also focuses on integrating pedestrian pathways, enhancing green spaces, and optimizing transportation and parking infrastructure to support a dynamic and accessible urban environment. This initiative is part of a broader effort to maintain Downtown Dallas as a vibrant and sustainable urban core.
