Portrait of a GFFer: Faiza Tayyab
Meet Faiza Tayyab. Faiza graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Professional Bachelor of Architecture and joined the GFF Austin Office in February as a Team Member. Read below for more about Faiza!
- I was born in Iowa City but (thankfully) have been an Austinite for 20 years now. And yes, I get especially annoyed with all the people moving here and crowding my city.
- I have been fortunate enough to travel to several international countries, of which include Italy, France, Switzerland, Turkey, Spain, Ecuador, Singapore, Malaysia, Pakistan, and Iceland.
- It doesn’t matter how much older I get, my favorite food will always be pizza and paninis; however I absolutely cannot stand any form of seafood…or celery.
- Two places where I have made most of my college memories (besides the legendary 40 acres) are Thunderbird Coffee and Auditorium Shores. I am always down for a cold vanilla latte and a game of frisbee.
- Two of my best friends have the same name, same birthday and I met them both in college.
- You can never force me to watch a horror movie. I am like a cat in water – not happening!
- I speak both English and Urdu, as well as read Arabic. I am a Pakistani Muslim American and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
- I often daydream about living in Manhattan or Brooklyn and working at a passionate yet small design firm.
- I most probably have Thalassaphobia and definitely don’t like the idea of vacationing near the ocean, swimming, taking a cruise or even a boat. If I could be anywhere it would be on the top of a mountain, with rolling green pastures and snow-capped mountains in the distance.
- If I had the budget and free-will, I would pick up a profession in designing furniture, mainly light fixtures, with a focus on architectural curiosity.
