The GFF Church Works Studio was recently awarded a “2019 Worship Facilities Solomon Award for Church Design – Youth and Children’s Spaces” for Woodcreek Church in Richardson, TX. The Solomon Awards recognizes churches and their partners for excellence in facilities design, building expansion or remodeling, operational excellence, innovative use, and technical production. Each submission is judged not only on their beauty and excellence of design, but also on how well the project was delivered: Was the finished project within budget? Was it completed on time? How well did the outcome match the vision and goals of the church ministry? Woodcreek Church engaged GFF to expand their children’s ministry with a 28,600 sf facility containing a two-story family commons, children’s assembly & classrooms, indoor playscape, and multi-purpose activity room. Themed zones based on age groups were reinforced with playful colors and materials providing a sense of ownership to the kids.
The Church Works Studio also recently received an Honorable Mention Award from the Central Texas Masonry Contractors Association (CTMCA) for work done on Life Austin Chapel in Austin, TX. The chapel, constructed by Zapalac/Reed, was the second project completed by GFF for Life Austin Church and opened at the end of 2017. The 300-seat facility is composed of natural stone to match the adjacent buildings on the site, and large arched windows with cast stone surrounds. Masonry provided by Continental Cut Stone and installed by Whitetail Construction, Inc.
