GFF Announces 2019 Promotions

GFF is excited to begin 2019 with the announcement and acknowledgement of our recent promotions. The group consists of 12 of the firm’s talented and dedicated architects, interior designers and landscape architects.

Jim West, AIA, LEED AP was named Principal. Kent Pontious, AIA, LEED AP BD+C was named Studio Director.

Jim West joined GFF in 2011 and in 2018, was named the Managing Director for GFF’s Austin office. Jim is a Project Manager with 22 years of experience in mixed-use and multifamily housing. His portfolio also includes mixed use, retail, urban housing, healthcare, hospitality, master planning and senior housing project types. “I am excited to be joining the leadership group of this dynamic firm and expanding GFF’s mission of Creating Memorable Places in the Austin region and beyond,” said West. “The GFF Austin team has done remarkable work since opening our office last April, and it is an honor to be a part of the team. It has been an exciting journey so far and I look forward to what the future holds for GFF.”

With over 25 years of experience in the architecture and construction industry, Kent Pontious has devoted the past 20 years of his career to civic and municipal projects. From initial client contact through the final stages of construction, Kent has experience in managing all aspects of a project. “I’m honored and humbled to lead the studio that Lawrence Cosby passionately built over his many years of service to GFF. With such a gifted team, I plan to build upon his legacy using the influences and principles that helped guide my career to this point,” said Pontious.

Promoted to Associate were Tyler Cini, AIA, NCARB and Levi Hooten. Tyler Cini is a licensed architect, graduated with Distinction with his Master of Architecture from the University of Kansas School of Architecture and Design and joined the GFF team in 2011. Levi Hooten earned his Bachelor’s of Architecture from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville’s College of Architecture & Design in 2010 where he received a Chancellor’s citation for “Extraordinary Professional Promise” and joined GFF in 2012.

Additional promotions included the following: promoted to Project Leader were Lance Abaya and Jason Hoyt, AIA. Promoted to Senior Coordinator were Harrison Daigle, AIA, Sarah Hamzeh and Alex Martin, ASLA, PLA. Promoted to Project Coordinator were Matt Blake, Ashley Hall, Assoc. IIDA, LEED Green Associate and Christa Michaels.
