Recently the Womble studio took a tour of the Alta Strand construction site in the Dallas Design District. This 400 unit, 5-story wood framed multifamily residential project stretches nearly 1000 feet along Turtle Creek and an extension of the Trinity Strand Trail. The long linear site itself brought many challenges with access and layout, and efforts were made to conserve a large heritage tree along the bank.

Because of the linear nature of the building, various stages of construction were visible next to each other, which made for a very educational tour. Newer staff, and those less versed in wood construction, were able to see the raw components exposed right next to the finished product. The office and amenities are complete, as are the first turn of units. Since the tour, the project actually has its first permanent residents! Isaac Robinson, who has been helping represent GFF during construction, led the tour as a last hurrah before setting out to hike the Pacific Crest Trail this summer. Most importantly, he led us all across the street to Rodeo Goat after the tour for refreshments!
