Good Shepherd Episcopal Church – Sanctuary Renovation

Dallas, Texas

As part of a larger Master Plan created by GFF, expansions and improvements were recently completed to the Sanctuary at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Dallas. Transepts were added to either side of the existing nave – increasing the seating within the room by over 200 occupants and completing the cruciform floor plan commonly found in traditional worship spaces. New light fixtures respect the vocabulary of the original architecture while improving overall light levels within the room. Porcelain tile flooring was selected for both the Sanctuary and Narthex, to complement existing slate flooring at the chancel. In addition, a new porte-cochere with a wood deck and trusses was designed for the entry, to enhance the drop-off and arrival experience for congregants.
