McKinney Medical Office Building

McKinney, Texas

Three practicing physicians with different specialties asked our client to develop a medical office building with room for expansion, adjacent to a hospital campus in this far north Dallas suburb. The plan for the building uses an angular exterior gallery corridor to connect the parking in front with the doctors’ pathway to the hospital in the rear. Because the physicians each had different space needs, the diagonal cut through a rectangular building created offices of appropriately varying sizes. The gallery roof was designed as a high-pitched, north light shed, to let in beneficial natural light without direct sun, and to encourage natural ventilation through a chimney effect.
