In 2007, JTL Capital purchased approximately 1,200 acres of mostly forested wetlands located north of Biloxi. The site is situated along State Highway 67, which is a primary evacuation route for residents along the Mississippi Gulf coast. This fact, coupled with the recent addition of several hotel/casinos in the local area, makes this tract of land highly attractive for those with a low to moderate income—some who were displaced by Hurricane Katrina. Designed as a master planned community, Pinehaven would have both highway-oriented and lifestyle center retail development strategically linked to a roadway and pedestrian trail network. To better serve as environmental stewards, this network sensitively preserves over 450 acres of critical wetlands while connecting to multiple residential enclaves using a variety of residential densities and sizes.
