The River Café is located on a wooded site along the Guadalupe River in New Braunfels, Texas. The 4,000 SF restaurant and bar is elevated above a cascading flood plain and provides dramatic views of the river and Hill Country vistas. To enjoy the moderate central Texas climate, glass overhead doors open the café to outdoor dining decks and terraces. Here patrons can enjoy food and drink while watching the sunset or partake in a game of horseshoes, washers or bocce. The River Café is constructed of modest, locally available materials. Metal panels, wood sidings and clay blocks are organized into a simple, basic building that create an authentic rural design.
