Construction of the five-level below-grade parking structure for High Street Residential’s M-Line Tower has recently bottomed out, and now this long-awaited luxury residential development at the northeast corner of McKinney Avenue and Bowen will begin its skyward journey. The project is located on the former site of the much-loved Uptown Café Express, which will return to the location upon completion as a part of retail/restaurant space along McKinney. The development takes its name from the McKinney Avenue Transit Authority’s M-Line Trolley, which will gain space for offices, a museum and parking for part of their fleet of vintage trolley cars, all rent free thanks to the generosity of the developer.
The building form has two distinct components. A decidedly contemporary 20-story, 261-unit residential tower is placed along the Oak Grove frontage to take maximum advantage of unobstructed views of Downtown Dallas over Greenwood and Temple Emanu-el cemeteries. The McKinney Avenue frontage features five stories of wood-framed residential units above ground floor retail, creating a comfortable pedestrian-friendly streetscape environment. The afternoon sun will reach the heavily landscaped and amenitized pool terrace situated above the podium. M-Line Tower is scheduled for completion in the 4th quarter of 2017. Andres Construction Services is the General Contractor.
