The Austin Museum of Art requested proposals from development teams to construct a luxury residential tower and permanent home for the Museum on this full-block site in downtown Austin. Our design placed a two-story, 37,000 SF building for AMOA on the northwest corner of the block, addressing historic Republic Plaza. The museum has the distinct form and presence of a freestanding building yet also functions as a base for 150 residential units stacked above. The third floor of the tower is designed to function as office space until AMOA needs to expand in the future. The limestone and glass complex is decidedly modern, using a favorite local material in ways which respond to climate, views and program.
