Mr. Kubala became a registered architect in 1986 and his extensive experience includes retail, office, and most especially, educational and religious projects. He is well-versed in working with churches and educational institutions, which have unique needs and often modest construction budgets. With these clients, he developed close working relationships, which resulted in satisfying solutions to both constraints.
Don earned a Master of Architecture degree from Texas A&M University in 1982 and, shortly thereafter, he joined GFF where he quickly assumed the responsibilities of Project Architect. In 1998, he was named an Associate Principal.
Don was honored for his service to the profession with the Texas Society of Architects’ William W. Caudill Award for Young Professional Achievement in 1996 and with the Dallas Chapter/AIA’s Young Architect of the Year Award in 1991. A longtime community volunteer, he tutors and mentors at-risk Hispanic students at Trinity River Mission in West Dallas. Don also serves on the Parish Council and as a Lector at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
